Shortly after the Civil War, Jefferson reached a peak population of 30,000 with as many as 15 Riverboats at a time lined up at the docks and scores of wagon trains passing through on their way west. The riverboats connected Jefferson with New Orleans, and many of the historic homes in Jefferson have a Louisiana flavor. The pictures from this walk are mainly historic buildings, some Mardi Gras event pictures, and some pictures from the cemetery. There were three murals along the route, but I choose the riverboat for my mural special events program. |
